Kansas + Mark | Engaged

Kansas and Mark will be getting married in July and I cannot wait! I've known Kansas my whole life. She and I are the same age and went to school together. When I found out she was engaged I secretly hoped that she would call me up and ask me to be her wedding photographer. As my luck would have it, she contacted me and said she couldn't think of anyone better to do it. So we set up a day to go over the contract and I finally got to meet this Mark of hers. Mark is such a great guy. Super quiet and shy, or maybe he's just that way around me, but I can tell that he is completely smitten with Kansas. She will tell you that he loves his mustang more than her but I think he just teases her with that. He wanted the mustang in some of the pictures and I even got to ride in it. Pretty sweet ride if I do say so myself.

We met up at the ball diamonds in Chester for some baseball pictures. They are both Cardinal fans and brought along some baseballs with the wedding date written on them. Then we all hopped in the mustang and went to a friend of theirs who own a ranch. When we pulled up to the ranch I was stunned by the beauty of the property. New ranch style home with landscaping for die for. There were 2 big barns which I just had to go into. Kansas loves horses so it only made perfect sense that we were there.

As always I have a ton of favorites that I want to show you. Kansas and Mark, I am so happy for you and I can't wait till July. Your wedding is going to be beautiful and I'm so glad I get to be the one to capture it.

Senior Referral Program

Seniors are absolutely favorite type of session to do. I can't just narrow it down to 1 reason, there are so many. High school seniors are just so cool and care free and up for anything I have in mind. They trust me completely which is a huge deal. I can remember when I was looking around for a photographer to take my own senior pictures. I had literally thought about it since the moment I walked in through the doors my freshman year. Thinking of ideas and what I'd wear. It's one of those things to look forward to... to be the center of attention and be a model for a day. So for a senior to book an appointment with me, it's just exciting to think that they are choosing ME to capture their personality and style.

Seniors are so special to me and my business so I wanted to do something special and fun for them. Who doesn't love FREE STUFF right? Check out my senior referral program below!

Siemers Family

I've known the Siemers my whole life. Growing up in a small town you pretty much know everyone and the Siemers Family is one of those families that I know very well. They are really great people and I was so excited when Lacey contacted me about taking their pictures. She told me exactly what she was looking for. She wanted pictures with her immediate family (mom, dad and brother) and then she wanted pictures with her family. Lacey even showed up this past Saturday with a list that she wrote out while she was getting ready that morning. I absolutely loved that! We just went right down the list and marked off as we went.

The location for their session took place on some property just outside of Steeleville. A family friend owns the property and they were nice enough to come unlock the gate for us that morning. Nobody lives on this property. There's a run down home that I think they are discussing tearing down. The thought saddens me LOL. You all know how much I love old buildings and barns because of the texture and colors. There's also a lake but it was seriously like 90 degrees that morning already and I didn't want them out in the direct sun. Now if it would have been a cloudy day I would have LOVED to go by their lake, but we just suck by the house in the shade.

We all had a good time and I'm so excited to show you a few of my favorites from their session. When I say "few" I really mean a "lot" ha ha. I just can't help it though. I really wish I could show every single picture I took of them but I can't because this post would just go on and on. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Lacey and her brother Cole. Love it!

I told them to act like they liked each other for a quick second for a good picture. This is what they did.

Kristin + Brandon + Hayden

Long time no see on the blog front. So sorry that I haven't posted much lately. I sort of feel like I've been a little MIA lately but the truth is I've just been enjoying a great weekend with family and friends. I trust you all have had a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend soaking up the sun, enjoying some BBQ and also remembering the men and women who have served and who are currently serving our country.

My weekend was amazing. I had 3 photo shoots and first up is Kristin, Brandon and Hayden.

We met up at Kristin's family cabin and lake and it was amazing to say the least. There was a great breeze coming off of the lake (thank goodness because it was already like 80 degrees at 9am) and it was quiet and peaceful. Definitely a great location for photos. I always love when my clients use family property. It gives me a chance to shoot somewhere new and somewhere that means something to that particular family. We started by the lake and using the boats as a prop so to speak. After that we moved over to the cabin. Seriously, this cabin is something you read about in books. It's so charming and the landscaping was perfect. We all had a great time. I think the cutest part of the day was when Hayden got out his own camera and shot some pictures himself. I had my own little 2nd shooter for the day! Maybe I should hire him to help me out LOL.

Here are my favorites from their session. Enjoy!

Cochran Kids

I met up with Amy and her 3 awesome kids this morning in Campbell Hill. It's a super small town but it has a great building I like to use for photo shoots. The old country store is there and it's closed now. It's old windows and brick are what I love the most. When I was discussing locations with Amy, I first suggested Sparta but I wanted something different that I haven't used in a while. I finally remembered about Campbell Hill and sent her a Facebook message right away to make sure it was okay. She pretty much trusted my decision so we were all set.

When I arrived, there she was with her 3 kids. Tobie, Tyson and Jasmine were rearing to go and super bubbly. Just what I like! I think they all liked being in front of the camera but I think Tobie, the oldest, loved it the most. He just kept posing and showing me his "guns". I usually always like to get pics of all the kids together, you know, acting like they like each other for a few minutes. I suggested that they all hold hands and immediately the boys separated and put Jasmine in the middle. You should have seen their faces. Hilarious. But they actually ended up giving me just what I was looking for. The last picture is my favorite because you just see how well they DO like each other and how much they love each other.

Amy, I hope you like these pictures just as much as I do. I think they turned out amazing! Enjoy your summer vacation you three. We'll have to get together again soon. I had a blast.

They are pretty cool!

Seriously, love right here!
