Brandon | 2014 Spanish Fort High School Senior, Alabama

When planning my trip to Alabama I asked my mom to find a senior who would be willing to let me take their senior pictures. You see, this senior was getting a FREE session from a photographer who wanted to shoot pictures on the water. The scenery is way different in Alabama than what I'm used to here in Southern Illinois. I wanted to take advantage of it and get a senior in front of my camera. When my mom told me she had the perfect candidate I got excited and then a few days later I received an email from him and I just knew that his session was going to be amazing.

Sooooooooo, meet Brandon. He's a senior at Spanish Fort High School in Alabama. He's so full of life and personality and I think I found someone as bubbly as me. He and I got along great and it felt like I've known him my whole life. I kept asking him if he had any ideas for his session and his response was always the same, "you're the professional!" I gotta admit that I was in heaven shooting on a pier in one of the most beautiful towns I've ever been in, Fairhope, AL. It all was very surreal to me. I kept thinking, "is this for real" because I couldn't believe that I was taking portraits in such a beautiful location. I hope to plan for other sessions in August when I take my grandmother down to visit my mom and step dad. So if you live in the Spanish Fort, AL or Fairhope, AL area, please contact me LOL.

Here are a few of my favorites from Brandon's session. Enjoy because I know I enjoyed every minute while taking these.

Weekend Roundup #6

Last Wednesday I traveled 11 hours down to Spanish Fort, AL with my Aunt Jan to visit my mom and step dad. It was a much needed vacation considering we had the longest winter ever here in Southern Illinois plus not to mention that I missed my mom and step dad terribly. I hadn't seen them since Christmas and it's the longest I've gone without seeing my mom. I'm still not used to the fact that she moved all the way to Alabama but the plus size of her living down there is that there are beaches nearby. And since there are beaches close, my Aunt Jan was the one I asked to go visit with me. She LOVES the beach. After spending 2 days on the beach, I came back to Illinois pale as the day I left with a few sun burns and my Aunt came back golden and beautiful. It's not fair LOL.

While In Alabama, I also had the privilege of taking senior portraits for a senior at Spanish Fort High School. His name is Brandon and I'll be blogging his session tomorrow. It was amazing to take pictures at the pier in Fairhope, AL.

I also met up with my cousins and took some family pictures. It was just a quick meeting with them but we got some great pictures and I'll be posting them to Facebook later in the week, so if you follow my Facebook page you'll see them.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I'm not ready to be back in the daily routine so I'm slowing making my way in. Catching up on the emails and Facebook messages today and this week I'll be catching up on album designs.

Here's a preview of Brandon's senior pictures.

More pictures to come from my trip to Alabama soon.

My cousin's. The Boswell clan.

Mackenzie | 2014 Steeleville High School Senior

If you're thinking this girl looks familiar from another blog post I did…. then you're correct. Mackenzie had a fall senior session already and it was at that session that she decided that she wanted to do a spring session as well. Mackenzie is a pitcher for Steeleville High School's softball team so that meant we could do pics on the field as well as head toward St. Louis for some other pictures. Since her fall session had more country scenes and farm sheds, etc. she wanted a more modern session in the city for spring. I'm always up for a trip to St. Louis as long as I can fit it into my schedule.

After missing the right road not once… but TWICE because of construction, we finally made it down on the landing and parked in front of the Arch. I was ready for a drink at that moment because traffic and construction are so frustrating. I think Mackenzie's mom, Cam, was on board with me at that moment but we knew we had pictures to take LOL. After walking around the landing we ended up with a ton more images for Mackenzie to add to her huge stash of photos she has already. I have way too many favorites. I think I kept telling her "OH this is my new favorite" and "nope, this one is my favorite!" It's like every time my camera snapped a photo it was great. It wasn't Mackenzie's first rodeo though LOL. I've taken her family photos a couple times and her fall session so this past Saturday was a cake walk for her. She loves the camera and the camera loves her and I'm excited to show you my favorites… the few I could decide on that is.

Hope you are all having a great week so far. I'm currently on my way to Spanish Fort, AL to visit my mom for a few days and enjoy the beach with my aunt Jan. Stay tuned for pictures from my trip!

Prom dress on the ball field… I think so!

It wasn't the easiest to get up into this space with that dress on, but I thank Mackenzie for doing so! It was worth it!

Those windows were PERFECT for her dress.

Kyle | 2014 Steeleville High School Senior

Last week I had another senior from Steeleville High School. I have to admit, I love taking pictures, but it's even better when it's people that you personally know. I've known Kyle's family for a long time and I even took his brother's senior pictures. We met in Sparta and went to some locations that I always love to use. No matter how many times I use a location, it always looks different depending on light and the client. Kyle let me take charge throughout the whole session and he let me run my brain with ideas. He was up for anything and since I have taken 4 other senior boys before his, I had lots of ideas in my head. There was one shirt he was really excited to wear and that was his Gold's Gym shirt. You can tell by looking at Kyle that he takes pride in lifting weights and working out. I'm pretty sure they are my favorite pictures because I feel like it just shows his personality well.

Like I say to all my seniors, Kyle, enjoy what's left of your senior year. These are the moments that you'll remember for the rest of your life so make it count and enjoy the days leading up to graduation.
