2014 Fall Mini Sessions

It may sound too early to be thinking about this, but Christmas is right around the corner and that also means that it's time to start thinking about family photos for the holiday season. Everyone needs a great family photo for Christmas cards or gifts to mom and dad. There are tons of reasons why you need a new family photo and I won't get in to all of them. But there is one reason…. because the weather is amazing in the fall and that's the best time of year for portraits! I love fall! October and November are my two favorite months to shoot in. The colors of fall and the smell in the air remind me of playing in the leaves and drinking hot apple cider when I was a little girl. I can still remember the hay rides that I went on and dressing up for Halloween. Did I mention that it's also time to bundle up in a good pair of jeans and rock out your favorite hoodie!!!!

Seriously though, it's not too early to be thinking about these things or having family portraits taken. I book up REALLY FAST in the fall months so I'm making 2 full weekends for mini sessions. I cannot wait to see all the families that come through this year. It's always nice to see the same families year after year but it's nice to see the new ones too.

If for any reason it rains, I will move the sessions to another day or work out a time with each family who signs up. No guarantees on weather. I'll just be keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

When I first started thinking about having photography classes the thought scared me. How on earth was I going to teach people how to use their DSLR cameras when I learned everything by Googling, reading blogs and watching tutorials on YouTube? I know what works for me and my style because I've shot so much and practiced so much. It's second nature for me to pick up the camera and know what settings I need. Trying to figure out how to teach that was so hard for me. But, things seem to be going well at my first set of classes so I think I'm ready to try a 1-day photography class. Yes, that's right, a 1-day class where you'll spend 4 hours learning how to shoot in Aperture Priority Mode, Shutter Priority Mode and Manual Mode. You'll also learn about light, exposure, composing a picture, focusing, etc. There's a lot to learn but I promise it won't be too overwhelming once you get started. The purpose of these classes is to get you off of "auto mode" and learn how to get the shots you want. The 6 girls who have been taking my class have been picking up on things very quickly and it's been great to see the "lightbulb" moments when things finally click for them.  Read below for more details on pricing, location, etc.

If you are interested, I ask you to please contact me and reserve your spot. I'm taking about 20 people because of space. You can contact me by email kacey@kaceyphotography.com or by phone 618-713-3890.

For the class, you MUST have your own DSLR camera (not a point-n-shoot). I will not supply any cameras for the class. You will also be asked to bring all the lenses you currently own.

Zac + Lily | Charming Purple Wedding - Ava, IL

There are 2 words that come to mind when I think of this cute couple and those two words are LOVE BIRDS. I'm being honest when I say that I don't think I've seen two people more in love than Zac and Lily. I only met them about a month before their wedding but I didn't need long to realize that this wedding was meant to be. Zac and Lily have been through a lot over the past few years. I don't know the exactly details but I know that when two people can make it through the hard times in life together, then they can make it through anything. I'm pretty sure Zac's brother, Brandon, said something along those lines in his speech after dinner.

Their wedding took place in this little charming church in the small town of Ava, Illinois. It probably couldn't hold more than 150 people, if even that, but it was just large enough to hold all of their close family and friends. The reception took place next door in the fellowship hall. It's pretty new, maybe built 5 years ago or so. It's a really nice venue and it was decorated nicely with shades of purple (you all know how much I was loving that). Round tables were surrounding the dance floor where Zac and Lily took their first dance as husband and wife. Before I knew it, guests were starting to head out for the evening and the end of a beautiful wedding day was near.

Zac and Lily, I hope you enjoy your wedding pictures as much as I do. I enjoyed your special day so much and I was so honored to be apart of it. I wish you two nothing but the best.

About to see each other for the first time on their wedding day!!!!

Zac was pretty happy!
