Jacob + Lesley | Barn & Countryside Engagement Session

If you live in a small town, you know that basically everyone knows everyone. That's how I know Jacob. He grew up in the same small town as I did and I have known his family for pretty much my whole life. He's a nice guy and always has a smile on his face. Now I haven't known Lesley for as long as Jacob. I first met her about 3 years ago. She's a wonderful math teacher, loves sports and the way she looks at Jacob is magical. I was so excited when she and Jacob asked me to be their wedding photographer. It's so fun shooting weddings for people that you know.

I see Lesley every day and for a while now we've been discussing her engagement session. She told me she wanted to go to a friend's barn, her parent's house by the lake and some pictures at the baseball field. I loved all of those ideas because they were new locations that I had never been to before. We finally had the session this past weekend and it was the nicest weekend we've had this spring so far. I had so much fun with these two and I cannot wait till their wedding in June. Here are a few of my favorites from their session.

These two are some of my favorites!

Look at that tree growing on the side of that barn!!!! So cool.

Love this!

Another favorite here! LOVE.

Dylan + Marissa | An Engagement Session At The Family Farm

Marisa's first weekend at Illinois Wesleyan College was a weekend she'd never forget. She went with a few girls to a fraternity party and that's where she met Dylan, or should I say Freddy Krueger. That's the name he gave her that night but later on she found out his real name. The night came to an end but Marissa found out later that Dylan actually called his mother the day after the party and said he met the girl he was going to marry and all he knew about her was that she was from Alaska! After months of just being friends, Dylan and Marissa made plans for dates on two different occasions but she stood him up! Finally, she decided to give him a chance the third time he asked her out (the third time's the charm as Marissa would say") and the rest is history.

Okay, so you probably want to know how Dylan proposed now too? Well, they had a whole day planned to hang out in St. Louis. Dylan got in touch with his buddy Nick, who will be a groomsmen, and he wanted Nick to capture the whole thing on camera. Nick's a runner and Dylan had planned for him to be running through the Forest Park area (by the fountains) just at the same time they were hanging out there. But Marissa got her sight set on the free art museum and she wanted to go in there and check out the art. Dylan had to play it cool but I think inside she was panicking a little, not to mention the ring was burning a hole in his pocket!  But finally the moment came and Dylan insisted on getting a good picture with the view of the fountains behind them. Good thing Nick was there to get that picture! As that was happening Dylan got down on one knee and asked the big question. Marisa was shocked at first but of course said yes and now they are planning a beautiful fall wedding.

I love meeting new people and I had so much fun with these two. Getting to know the stories behind my couples is always so wonderful because it helps me learn about them more which in return helps me get amazing photos! Here are a few favorites from my time with Dylan and Marissa this past weekend. The session took place at Marissa's grandparent's farm as well as her aunt and uncle's lake. Get ready because they are amazing!

Gotta love the cows that are in the background!

Oh the joy in this picture!

Look at that ring!

One of my absolute favorites here!

Oh hello golden light of goodness! And look how adorable these two are!

My favorite!

This quilt is Marissa's aunt's and it's amazing. If I could have taken it home I would have!

Dustin + Danyele | A Maestown Engagement Session

You would think shooting in downtown Maestown would get old over time, but it's just one of those towns that sets the tone for amazing photographs. When Danyele asked me to pick a location for her and Dustin's engagement session, I knew Maestown would be the perfect fit. A nice wooded area for the outdoorsy feel and then old buildings and creeks for the charming feel.

I always start my sessions off with my basic posing structure and Dustin and Danyele were pros at it! They are great at making each other laugh and I could tell that it was going to be an amazing shoot right from the very beginning. One of my favorite parts of the shoot was right when we pulled up to the old church. They had just made a clothing change and I could tell they were loosening up a bit. The pictures we got there were so amazing and I cannot wait to show you below.

These two are planning a fall wedding and it's going to be amazing. But for now, enjoy looking at a few of my favorites from their engagement session.

They are so darn cute!

LOVE this one!

This church is beautiful!

Gotta love the golden glow.
