Zach + Sierra | Country Engagement Session | Sparta, Illinois

When I started my business 6 years ago, I never dreamed that I would make the kind of connections that I have with my clients. I have some clients that I met the first year of my business that still come to be for portraits and it's such a great feeling. It's an even better feeling when those clients come to you and they say they're engaged and they want you to shoot their wedding! When I got the email from Sierra telling me she was engaged and that she and her fiancé wanted me to be their wedding photographer, I was so excited.

I have known Sierra ever since her senior portraits with her twin sister a few years ago. Since that session, I've seen her and her family numerous times, including her sister's wedding (Samantha and Jake which you can view here). I love this family and I cannot wait till next summer when she and Zach get married.

Zach and Sierra entered into the Belleville News Democrat Fairytale Wedding Giveaway and they WON! They received some amazing prizes to help plan their wedding and I cannot wait to see how the day unfolds. Until then...enjoy looking at a few of my favorites from my time with them.

Sierra's father, Sid, suggested that we try to use colored smoke bombs for some portraits. It was a lot of fun playing around with them.

The ring shot in the middle is pretty cool. The blue stuff is the chalky bits from the inside of the smoke bomb.

I'm pretty sure Zach is writing a song for Sierra to sing at their wedding. How cute is that??!!!?

Jacob + Lesley | A Classic Summer Wedding | Steeleville, Illinois

Jacob and Lesley were married a couple weeks ago in the small town of Steeleville, Illinois. It's a quiet little town, the same town I grew up in, and it's the perfect setting for a classic wedding. I always like when a wedding is all in one town because that usually means time for more portraits...and you all know I love to take as many bride and groom portraits as I can.

This wedding was a little different than the other weddings that I've shot. The ceremony took place early in the morning and the reception was over by 4:00pm. Honestly, it was actually awesome! After the reception was over, Jacob and Lesley had all afternoon/evening to themselves and that meant that we would have time for lots of portraits after the event before they left for St. Louis. They liked the fact that they would have a lot of alone time on their wedding day, to just enjoy each other's company and take it all in. Most wedding days go by so fast and it's hard to soak up the moments but Jacob and Lesley made sure that didn't happen.

I had the best time with their family and friends and I love how their photos turned out. It took me a bit longer to get these photos edited (I blame the beach) but it's going to be so worth it once you scroll through the images. Jacob and Lesley, I hope you two newlyweds are enjoying your new life together as husband and wife. The love you have for one another is so special and beautiful and I wish you two nothing but the best.

Lesley, you were stunning!!!

A prayer before the ceremony...

I love this moment of each wedding day.

Loved the pompoms.

The first bridesmaid that walked down the isle during the ceremony (Katie) gave Jacob this baseball with a message from Lesley.

Some reception details.

LOVE this!
