Taylor + Trenton | Class of 2017 | Steeleville HS Seniors

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I have so many wonderful memories about this day. Today is the day that you can be anything you want to be.... in costume that is. I can remember dressing up as all kinds of things. I was once Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, Ariel in the Little Mermaid and even Marie Antoinette.  Some of my most favorites memories were dressing up in high school with all of my friends. It was so fun to walk through the doors and see what everyone wanted to be that day.

Speaking of high school, let me introduce you to Taylor and Trenton. Yes, they are twins and I've known these two since they were babies! Seriously. How can they be high school seniors already??? I've watched these two grow up over the years and it's bittersweet to be capturing their senior portraits. They obviously shared a senior session, I mean what twin schedules anything on their own? Sorry guys LOL. Trenton loves his car and has one heck of a "model face" and Taylor is gorgeous and has one of the most contagious laughs ever. These two love having their photo taken and it definitely shows. I pretty much love EVERY single photo I took of them and it was so hard narrowing down my favorites for this blog post.

I hope you are all enjoying your Halloween and sporing your amazing costumes. I will not be in costume this year but you better believe that next year it's on like Donkey Kong! Maybe I'll break out Marie again (Marie Antoinette).

There's that laugh :)

LOVE this!

Gotta have some pics together.... it's only natural.

LOVE this one too! Looking good Trent!

Dylan + Marissa | A Gorgeous Fall Wedding At the Summer Breeze Barn | Farina, IL

A couple weeks ago, I gathered up all of my gear, plenty of caffeine and punched in my GPS directions for a wedding up north. I didn't mind the 2 hour drive. In fact, I was very much looking forward to it. It meant that I was driving to a new location for a wedding that I had never taken pictures at and I love that challenge. Sometimes when you shoot at the same location over and over, you start to lose creativity. From the minute I pulled up to the First Baptist Church, I knew it was going to be a great day.

I found the videography team and we made our way around the church to try and find the best light for getting shots of the bridal details. We found this perfect room with nothing but white walls and lots of windows. It ended up being where we shot Marissa getting ready in her wedding gown and where she opened up her gift from Dylan. Now, for the ceremony, it was quite dark indoors, so I made the quick decision to do family formals outside. Sometimes you just have to do what you gotta do to get the best photos... and that sometimes means stepping outside the box and doing something out of the ordinary. I'm so glad I have clients that trust me and let me do "my thing" when we're in a crunch.

Dylan and Marissa wanted to take their portraits at the Old State Capitol building in downtown Vandalia and let me just tell you that it was absolutely stunning. The trees were perfect fall colors and the Capitol building itself was grand it itself. I think Marissa's wedding colors definitely stood out at this location and I'm so glad we went there.

The night ended with a rustic reception at a place called Summer Breeze Barn. It's an old barn that has been restored. There's a huge chandelier and what I like to call "Ben Franklin bulbs" hanging inside. It's sort of a modern twist on the decor. The best part of the evening was when Dylan and Marissa ran through an isle of sparklers for their exit. I've only had the pleasure of shooting a couple sparklier exits but I'm starting to think it should be a THING at every wedding from now on. I absolutely love the photos I got from that moment.

It was so hard to choose my favorites from this wedding and you'll see why when you see below. Such a beautiful day and I'm so honored to have been a part of it. Enjoy!

I'm just going to say right now how much I LOVED the color palette from this wedding!!!

You are GORGEOUS Ms. Marissa!!! Seriously.

Marisa opening her gift from Dylan.

Maps in hearts that tell where Dylan and Marissa met, where he proposed, where they lived and where they live now (I think that's right).

Some ceremony details.

Loved the isle idea. They had 1 Corinthians 13:4 on chalkboard signs. (Love is patient, love is kind...)

You may NOW kiss your bride. Dylan was pretty excited to do just that!

Oh how I love fall. Look at those leaves!

Marisa's dress literally looked like it was made for her! So pretty!

Some of the reception details.

The cake topper was from Marissa's grandparents cake at their wedding 67 years ago. How cool is that!

Time for the exit... my FAVORITE part!

Absolutely LOVE this last image. Probably one of my all time favorites ever! So darn pretty.
