Josh + Rachel | Blue Sky Vineyard Engagement Session

Blue Sky Vineyard. Have you ever been there? If you love wine, then you probably have enjoyed a glass or two, or maybe a bottle or two in my case there at the winery. For Josh and Rachel, it's a very special place. Josh proposed to Rachel at Blue Sky! How cool is that? It's such a beautiful place and it's that much more beautiful to Rachel because it's the place where her life changed and a new chapter started.

Josh is an engineer living in Chicago and Rachel is a meteorologist for Channel 3 WSIL living in Southern Illinois. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to not be close to the love of your life, but these two are so darn perfect for each other that a little distance isn't going to shake this relationship. One of the best parts of an engagement is getting to see how a couple interacts and Josh and Rachel have such a fun and loving relationship. They were always laughing and smiling and just couldn't stop holding hands or being flirty. It makes me so excited to see these two on their wedding day!!! I can't wait!

I wish I would have had more time at Blue Sky to enjoy the wine, but I'm proud to say that my trip there was pretty amazing. I could take pictures at this place every day and not even be mad about it. It's just so darn beautiful. Here are a few of my favorites from Josh and Rachel's session.

Yep, Rachel looked down and found a 4-leaf clover right after that pose. How awesome!!!

I'm loving those red wedges!!!

You can't go to a winery and NOT shoot pictures in the vineyard.

Matt + Brittany | Laumeier Sculpture Park Engagement Session

Matt and Brittany contacted me a while back asking if I'd be interested in booking a Sunday wedding. It wouldn't be a full day of coverage like most Saturday weddings so I was willing to negotiate with them. After talking about the plans they had for their big day, Brittany told me that she and Matt wouldn't be needing the complimentary engagement session because they already had some portraits taken by a friend. Well, if you've been reading my blog at all, you know that I ALWAYS like getting my couples in front of my camera BEFORE the wedding day. Think about it... some stranger walks in on one of the most important day of your life and that stranger starts to tell you to hug and nuzzle your fiancé/husband and tries to get you to pose in ways that you have no idea what they're talking about! It's kind of crazy to let someone who's never met you take your wedding photos... in my opinion of course. Whether a bride books me or another photographer, I'd tell her the same thing, to get all of your wedding and engagement photos taken by the same person. It didn't take long to discuss my point for Brittany to go along with the idea. Thanks Brit!

The next step was deciding on a location for the session. Since she and Matt live in St. Louis, Brittany suggested that they go to the same park where they had photos taken previously by their friend. I loved that idea because it meant it would be a new place for me to shoot in, which gives me all kinds of ideas. The location was the Laumeier Sculpture Park and it's such a pretty spot for portraits. It was that perfect golden hour and Brittany and Matt did a fabulous job in front of my camera. I could tell they were a little quiet and shy at first, like most couples, but after asking how they met is when they started to get more talkative and comfortable. When I asked how they met, they both, at the same time, said the answer simultaneously.... online! I don't know about you, but I've tried the whole online dating thing a few times and I have to say I'm done with it LOL. It's turned out all crazy for me but I love hearing a good love story come out of it for others. I've had numerous couples that I've booked meet online so I know it works!

Scroll down to see my favorites from my time with Brittany and Matt. I know I've said this before, but I really do have the best clients ever :-)

I loved this triangle thing LOL

Zach + Sierra | Blush & Gold Summer Wedding | Red Bud, IL

The last few weeks have been a blur. I bought a house, packed and moved out of my rental, had a birthday and held a mini party in my front yard for the 4th of July parade that my hometown holds every year. My new house sits right along the parade route and I loved having a bunch of family and friends to celebrate the holiday with. It all seems so surreal. I haven't had a ton of time to really process everything that's taken place recently and I've been behind on editing one amazing wedding. You see, all of this happened right after Zach and Sierra were married. These two have been so patient with me with their wedding edit and I'm proud to say that they don't have to wait anymore!

This was one beautiful wedding. When Sierra told me that the colors were going to be blush and gold, I got excited. They are soft colors and perfect for summer. The bridesmaids wore long blush gowns in different styles by Bill Levkoff from Bridal Manor while the groomsmen wore grey suits with blush ties, also from Bridal Manor . The gorgeous blooms for the wedding were designed by Grimm & Glory Florist & Gifts. Sierra wore an amazing Allure Bridal gown from My Formals and it was if that dress was made specifically for her. It was stunning! Everything that day was perfect, even the temperature. It's not common to have a summer wedding and NOT be sweating profusely LOL.

There are many moments from each wedding that I take home with me and ones that I'll never forget. One of my favorite moments from this wedding was when Sierra did the first look with her dad. When her father, Sid, turned around, he was wearing a set of costume teeth. It was hilarious and Sierra loved every minute of it. If you know Sid, then you know this is something totally normal for him. He's such a great man full of life and love for his children. My other favorite moment from the day was right before the reception, where the bridal party surrounded Zach and Sierra and shot off confetti cannons! This again had Sid written all over it. He purchased the party poppers and spray painted them gold to match the wedding colors. It was so much fun to take his idea of the party poppers and turn it in to a magical moment.

I had so much fun with Zach and Sierra and I'm so darn excited to show you my favorites from their wedding day. Before I do that, I just have to give a shout out to Krista, my assistant who helped me at the wedding. Thank you so much, Krista. You have no idea how helpful it was to have an extra pair of hands to flush dresses and hold bouquets, etc. Thank you!

Time for the FIRST LOOK!!!!

Zach was in love! He just twirled Sierra around and stared at her in awe :-)

They had a little bit of an audience during the first look LOL

Are they just not the cutest couple ever!

You are GORGEOUS, Sierra!

Oh Sid, how I love your spirit and personality.

Walking with dad down the isle...

I love stopping traffic for an epic photograph! So much fun!

AH! I love this so much!

I love the way Zach makes Sierra laugh :-)

Some reception details...

Is it just me, or does the confetti look like it made a heart shape cutout around their faces??? LOVE this!
