Donald + Kathryn | Wedding

June 7, 2012

Shades of periwinkle and purples were scattered all around last Saturday as Donald and Kathryn prepared to walk down the isle and say “I DO”. The ceremony took place in Steeleville at the Peace Lutheran Church. I’ve grown up in that church and it’s where I was baptized and confirmed. So you could image how excited I was to be taking my first wedding photos there. The whole bridal party showed up around noon and I immediately started with the groom’s portraits along with his groomsmen. This was a huge bridal party so I had a lot of bodies to work with but it actually worked out pretty well. The lighting was gorgeous outside so I used the front of the church for most of their pictures. Didn’t take long and it was time to head down where Kathryn was with her bridesmaids. It was time for her to get into her dream dress. A dress that hung beautifully in the church library while her flower girls stood staring and smiling at it. They couldn’t wait to see their aunt get into her gown. Once the dress was on and her sisters started lacing up the back, the room got quiet and everyone stood in looked at how beautiful Kathryn was in that moment. Denise, her mother, helped put on the finishing touches then we took off for the church for portraits. All of the girls looked stunning and that periwinkle was just gorgeous with their bouquets. You all know how much I love purple! We didn’t have a lot of time but we got all of the girls portraits finished just in time for the ceremony to start. It was a beautiful ceremony that ended in Donald and Kathryn walking through a sea of bubbles.

We had just a little bit of time to head off location to a barn just outside of Steeleville. I have used this location before and I always get permission to be on the property. It was well worth it because the photos I took out there are definitely my favorite. I don’t mind taking traditional photos in a church if it’s requested, but I love being on location more. I had such a great time with this bridal party. A TON of them but it was a lot of fun. After I bossed them around for a bit we took off for the reception. What a great time everyone had. Their guests definitely know how to break it loose on the dance floor! I danced my socks off too. You know you had a good time at a wedding when you wake up the next day and your feet hurt so bad that you can barely walk. That’s exactly how much fun I had at this wedding and I’m so excited to show you my favorites. And thank you so much for my assistant/2nd shooter Missie! You rock!

Donald and Kathryn, thank you so much for letting me be apart of your special day. I can’t wait to meet up with you and do an “After Session” for more bridal portraits. You two are so special and I’m so glad I was the one to capture these memories for you to cherish throughout your life. Enjoy!

Seriously, look at the colors here!
