If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may remember a wedding that I shot about 2 years ago. The bride from that wedding, Kelly, said she wanted to take her bridal party pictures at this old church in Waterloo. It’s the Old Baum Church and it was built in the late 1800s. All that stands is the stone walls that held up the church. There are no windows or roof and definitely no floor. Over the last few years, people have actually used that tiny church for ceremonies. I love how the ivy is growing up the walls and the way the light comes in through the windows and roof is absolutely perfect for portraits.
When I asked Adrianne where she would like to have her engagement photos taken with Chris, she really didn’t have anything in mind. She asked if I knew of a good place and for some reason this old church kept coming to mind. After all, most weddings take place in a church so it was a fitting location for two people who are in love and getting married.
The session ended in Maeystown, another town that I absolutely love to shoot in. And guess what Chris and Adrianne changed in to… Chucks! I love me a good pair of Chuck Taylors. It’s so casual but definitely a way to show personality. When my couples are comfortable in what they are wearing, they do better in front of my camera. You’ll see when you look below just how adorable these two are. I cannot wait till Spring when I get to capture these two saying “I DO”.
