Adam + Emily | Teal Wedding At The Falls

May 30, 2013

Filed in: Uncategorized

Last Friday I had the pleasure of taking wedding portraits for Adam and Emily in Columbia, IL at a place called The Falls. The ceremony and reception both took place there and quite honestly, I was a little shocked when I pulled up to it that day. I had never been there before and when you pull into the parking lot (next to a car dealership) you wonder what could possibly be inside. The minute I walked in, I knew it was going to be amazing. There was a water feature right through the front doors, then this beautiful ballroom that was decorated with black linens, candles and vases filled with teal water and floating candles. There was a HUGE wall behind the head table, in teal, with Adam and Emily’s monogram. It was stunning. BUT then, the best part was right when I walked through the back doors of the reception hall. When I opened the door, I saw a huge waterfall and beautiful landscaping with flowers in all different colors. It was so beautiful.

Adam and Emily decided to do a “first look” and get portraits done before the ceremony. I had so much time with them and their bridal party and we ended up getting so many portraits taken. If you’re a bride and you’re considering doing a “first look” talk to me and I’ll give you a million reasons why you should do it. As a photographer, I love being able to give brides what they truly want… which is a ton of portraits. It’s hard to do that when you’re limited after a ceremony and you’re rushing around trying to get family portraits in AND all the bridal party and bridal portraits all the while you’re guests are starving and waiting for you to arrive at the reception. It just makes sense to have your moment together. A moment where you’re totally alone and you get to enjoy your wedding day together before it gets hectic.
I could ramble all day about how doing a “first look” is amazing, but I won’t do that. Instead, I’ll finish off by telling you that this wedding was absolutely beautiful and I’m so honored that Adam and Emily asked me to be the one to capture their big day. Enjoy just a few of my favorites from their wedding.

Stunning!
