Okay, so it’s finally spring and I’m so thrilled that the days are getting longer and the temperatures are above freezing. Did this winter seem extra long to anyone else??? I have finally turned the heat off in my home and I love hearing the birds outside my windows. Huck is excited for spring too because he loves laying by the screen doors looking at the birdies!
As thrilled as I am that spring is here, I’m taking a small step backwards to when it snowed the last time in our area. I’m in the process of designing my new website and the new site will be directed mostly toward weddings and engagements. That’s where my heart but I’m still offering senior and family sessions. So with the site being directed towards weddings more, I wanted the site to feel soft and airy, sort of like my new office space (more on the blog about that soon too).
I LOVE purples, especially the soft lavender and rusty shades. I don’t have too many brides who use that shading in their weddings so I knew I wanted to have a styled shoot at some point to tie in those colors on my new site.
Dane and Marcea were married last year and Marcea kept hinting at me that she wouldn’t mind putting her wedding dress back on if I ever needed someone to model for me. Well… it didn’t take long for me to decide that she and Dane would be my models and so we started planning for a winter shoot. To get that soft light from winter and the white snow. It did snow a few times but the scheduling just didn’t work out well for me. But then it finally snowed ONE more time and so we made it happen. You can’t predict snow so I couldn’t really call a florist to get a bouquet and bout made in time. So what did I do??? I went to Walmart and bought some supplies and a few bundles of flowers and made a quick bouquet and bout. I think they turned out okay LOL.
The styled shoot went so well and I’m so glad that Marcea suffered through freezing temperatures for me. It was well worth it and my new site will look so great with some of these photos.
P.S. It’s not a good idea to wear designer boots to a shoot in the snow. I completely busted my (you know what) in the first few minutes of the shoot and had mud everywhere because I didn’t have any traction LOL. It was hilarious and better me than Dane or Marcea. I should have had one of them take my pictures because it was pretty funny.
This session is one for the books and I’m so glad I get to show off this beautiful couple again. Enjoy!
Definitely a favorite right here! These black and white photos are so romantic feeling!
The bouquet from Wal-Mart wasn’t so bad LOL.
My absolute favorite right here! (below) It’s so soft and romantic……
Trying to “dip” is hard when you’re on a hill in dress shoes in the SNOW! Great job Dane.
