When I left my house this past Saturday morning, I didn’t think the weather was all that bad. Yes, there was a slight chill in the air but it seemed like a perfect morning for an engagement session. The minute I stepped outside of my car at Shelby’s parent’s house the wind picked up dramatically and it was down right cold! Shelby was wearing a dress without sleeves and I could tell she was cold but she was a trooper and said she’d make it through. It’s a good thing I make my couples do more romantic shots because Mike was able to keep Shelby warm.
We started the session by the shed because it was blocking most of the wind. But after a while I had to move them over by the horses because when there’s an old fence, you have to use it for a background! I also used part of the fence for some ring shots. There are LOTS of ring shots in this post because I just couldn’t help myself. There were opportunities everywhere for a bling shot it seemed. The side of the road became our next location and I gotta tell you, there’s nothing better than taking pictures in the middle of weeds, next to a highway, in the fall. The colors are out of this world! I’m not editing the colors in these pictures I swear!
The session ended up at Piney Creek, where Mike proposed to Shelby. It’s also where they shared their first date so it was a perfect spot. I have never shot pictures there before so that was a first for me3. It was pretty awesome. We hiked our way to the spot where Mike proposed and did a few pictures there and then I selected a couple places of my own. Everything turned out so nicely and we couldn’t have planned a better day or location for their session.
The wedding will be next fall and I cannot wait! Here are a few of my favorites. Have a wonderful weekend.
I love horses!
Standing on the side of the road in some weeds…. no big deal.
Weeds make great backgrounds for ring shots too.
Their wedding color will be purple so this was kind of perfect for the ring shot! Plus, you all know I’m partial to purple.
Piney Creek!
I took a shot of the ring on the moss and some twigs. I now love moss. If you know me you know I’m not a country girl but….. I could get used to this mossy stuff if it means cool pics like this!
