Alex + Kaitlin | A Countryside Engagement

Filed in: Uncategorized

Right now I’m currently sitting on the couch blogging this session while trying not to scratch chigger bites on my ankles! It’s that time of year where the tall weeds and grass are perfect for photo shoots and it’s also hot, which mean wearing boots isn’t ideal. Well, all the scratching is worth it and you’ll see why when you scroll through these beautiful pictures of Alex and Kaitlin’s engagement session.

I’ve known Kaitlin’s family for a long time now. She grew up in the same small town as me and when she contacted me about shooting her wedding I was thrilled! I couldn’t wait to start discussing engagement session ideas. Time sort of got the best of me and we hadn’t really talked much until the week of the session. She and Alex said they wanted a more country feel to their photos so I asked her if she knew of any great places outside of town in the country or maybe knew anyone who had old barns and sheds, etc. and she knew just the place!

The location for the pictures is actually next to a her old home that she used to live in. There was this gorgeous lane where the trees made a canopy over the road, there was old wooden fencing next to a field with tall weeds and grass (where the chiggers ate me up) and then there was this amazing red barn with a huge American flag painted on the side of it. I was so excited at each location. The light was perfect and everything really came together. Alex was such a great groom-to-be. Most guys hate their photos being taken, but I really think deep down they enjoy it. The way I pose my couples is natural and relaxed and I told Alex all he had to do was love on Kaitlin and the session would go beautifully and he replied with, “OK I can do that!”

He certainly did and I’m so happy with how their photos turned out. Here are just a few of my favorites from my time with Alex and Kaitlin. Enjoy!

You two are adorable!

Each couple has their “pose.” Well… this is Alex and Kaitlin’s!

Kaitlin brought along her dog, Owen. He is such a cutie!
