Tyler + Ashley | St. Louis, MO Engagement Session

October 11, 2017

Filed in: Engagements

Every once in a while I get a couple who emails me asking me if I’d be interested in taking their engagement photos, even though they are not needing me for their wedding services. Usually it’s because they are having a destination wedding. Well that’s exactly the case for Tyler and Ashley. Ashley told me that she and Tyler were having a small wedding in Florida and close family and friends, which I love. So when we started discussing locations for the engagement session, she mentioned the Jewel Box in St. Louis. It’s a beautiful green house located in Forest Park with lots of tropical flowers and plants. I’ve never taken pictures there but I had been inside once before and I knew that it was going to be perfect considering they are getting married at a tropical location.

As we walked up to the Jewel Box, Ashley’s face lit up and I knew it was going to be a wonderful time. She and Tyler, and Ashley’s son Gage (who came along for a few family portraits), loved the venue and just were so shocked at how amazing it truly was. We had a little bit of time for pictures before they started setting up for the weekend’s wedding. Oh gosh, to be married in that place would be a dream. It’s small but super intimate and I had so many ideas running through my head for Tyler and Ashley’s portraits. The Jewel Box did not disappoint and now I’m planning some ideas of my own to go back there for more camera fun.

The session ended with a second outfit at The Muny, just down the hill from the Jewel Box. I love shooting at The Muny. Tyler and Ashley had never been there before so they were excited about it. One of my favorite parts about it is the huge chandelier that hangs right by the ticket booth. It’s such a grand place and it’s perfect for portraits. The light that comes through there is just beautiful. If there’s one thing I could have changed about this session, it would have been the darn weather. We’re just not seeing fall temperatures and poor Tyler had to wear a sweater while suffering in the heat LOL. Oh well, he didn’t complain and the pictures turned out amazing. You’d never guess that it was almost 90 degrees for their session!

I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far. It’s Hump Day and the weekend will be here before you know it. Enjoy looking through my favorites!
