Remember that weekend before the 4th of July when we had a head advisory? The news that morning said to stay indoors if you can. I thought to myself… well Annie and Joel are in for a good one because we’ll be outside for portraits and the ceremony! Annie and Joel chose to have their wedding at Von Jakob Winery and Brewery. It’s such a beautiful place to have a wedding. The view of the vineyard is so pretty and guests were lined up out on the deck (in 100+ degree weather) getting selfies and portraits with their friends and loved ones. It was my first time taking wedding photos at this venue. I had been there lots of times for other weddings and for recreational purposes, you know, because I’ve hit up a wine trail or two.

One of my favorite parts of the day was right before the ceremony when Annie and Joel gave each other their wedding gifts. Annie gifted Joel a watch with their song printed on the inside. And Joel gifted Annie with a custom star map of the night of their wedding with the song lyrics printed on it. When Annie looked at the poster she goes, “we got each other the same thing!” That just goes to show how much they are truly meant for each other. They are best friends and share all the same interests… including their song, which Annie sings to Joel all the time and tries to get him to dance to it with her.

Joel, Annie and their family and friends were definitely hands-on when preparing for this wedding. From the decorations, the bouquets, the gift book (which was old albums) and even Annie’s wedding dress! Annie’s grandmother made her dress and it was so perfect for her and the wedding. Annie even had a second wedding dress that she changed in to after the first dances. There were touches of music everywhere since Annie and Joel were in the band together (and most of their bridal party). Every wedding is so unique and I’m so honored to have been a part of this one. I know I say that about every wedding but it’s so true. Sometimes I can’t believe that I get to be a part of people’s weddings! It’s such a special day in someone’s life and I get to capture it 🙂
