Redfield Estate Wedding | Chicago, Illinois

Chicago, Illinois is one of my favorite cities to visit. One of my best friends lives up there so when I visit her we go into the city. I love shopping the Magnificent Mile, spending time at Navy Pier, getting drinks at The Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of John Hancock Building (seriously, the view is amazing… especially from the women’s restroom) and of course, taking photos by the Bean in Millenium Park. I guess if you’re a Cubs fan, you like going to a game every now and then 😉

Now, of course those are the usual touristy things you can do in the city. When I was asked to come to the city to shoot Jessica and Chris’ engagement photos and wedding, I was beyond excited. Jessica has great taste and style and I knew her wedding details would be beautiful. I love getting to shoot at new venues because it gets my creative juices flowing and the venue of choice was the The Grove Redfield Estate in Glenview, Illinois, just north of the city. It’s a gorgeous historic home with this amazing covered pavilion with fireplace and decorative lighting where Jessica and Chris held their reception. For ceremonies, there are lots of options and I know Jessica had a hard time deciding on where exactly to get married at. I told her to close her eyes and picture herself standing there with Chris as they were saying their vows… and to picture what she was standing by. She was deciding between a gazebo that she’d have decorated with simple florals or an open area on the property where she’d have a modern hexagon backdrop brought in. When I gave her that tip, she immediately said gazebo! Brides, just go with your gut when decision making. After all, you’ve been dreaming about this day for a long time.

There were so many great moments from Jessica and Chris’ wedding. Here are a few of my favorites (in no particular order):
1.) One of their closest friends officiated the wedding
2.) When Jessica walked down the aisle with her father
3.) Watching Jessica get her veil put on by her BFF Amanda
4.) The father/daughter and mother/son dances
5.) The dance floor never being empty!

Jessica and Chris sure do know how to throw a party! It was so great seeing all of their family and friends light up the dance floor. Maybe it was from all the White Claw, but I think those people would have danced all night long even without some liquid courage! When I left, I remember telling Michelle, their wedding planner, that I loved seeing the dance floor packed! Everywhere you looked there were smiling faces. It was such a fun day and I’m honored that Jessica and Chris wanted me to be a part of it.

Look at that smile!!!
