Murphysboro, Illinois Courthouse Wedding

I don’t even know where to start with this blog post. There’s so much that I want to say and I once heard that we write how we talk, and if you know me, you know that I talk a LOT. How can you put into words just how special true love is? When I think of true love, I think of Allison and Cody. I have literally only known these two for a few months but it feels as if it’s been a lifetime. They came to me in August for a meeting to discuss their wedding and my photography services. After that meeting, Allison messaged me and told me they wanted me to be apart of their big day in October of 2020. Now, I know what you’re thinking. It’s October 2019 and I’m blogging their wedding day right now. I’m a year early! You’re right, I am a year early. In fact, they got married in September, on a beautiful Friday with all of their close family and friends at their side. To read more about why they got married a month after they booked me, you can read all about it in their engagement session blog post here.

I’ve been to a few intimate weddings over the years. One had just six people present (me included) and another courthouse wedding was just me and the couple getting married. I love small and intimate ceremonies. There’s just something so special about being in a room with a hand full of people all witnessing a couple getting married. It’s short and sweet, sometimes personal vows are read, sometimes it’s straight by the book. There’s less stress and less planning that’s involved (something that Allison loved) and in the end, all that really matters is that each couple is happy. And Allison and Cody were VERY happy.

I met up with Allison, Cody and all of their close family and friends before the ceremony to do some portraits. We decided to do those photos before heading in so that afterwards I could focus on Allison and Cody’s bride/groom portraits. When we walked into the courtroom, everyone took their seat and anxiously waited on the judge to enter. Some played around on the witness stand, some talked about their excitement and others sat quietly with smiles on their faces waiting for the ceremony to take place. When the judge entered, in a matter of a few minutes, Allison and Cody were pronounced HUSBAND and WIFE and everyone applauded and tears of joy flowed. Quick and easy… but so moving!

Afterwards, I drove Allison and Cody around Murphysboro and Carbondale for some portraits. They were all smiles and couldn’t take their eyes off each other. They really are the sweetest couple and it’s so easy to get good pictures of them because they’re just so darn cute! When I dropped them off at their hotel, I got out of my car, gave them both a big hug and told them just how much they made an impression on me. I’m so honored that they picked me as their photographer. Enjoy looking through my favorites of Allison and Cody’s wedding day.

About to be MARRIED!
EVERYONE is pretty excited!
Handing over the rings.
First kiss as HUSBAND and WIFE!
Making it legal.
Judge told us that we could hang out in the room for as long as we’d like… so we had so fun.
“You can’t handle the truth!” LOL
I didn’t even pose this! Look how in love these two are!
