Giant City Lodge Engagement Session

October is a popular month for so many reasons. Bonfires, football games, homecomings, hayrides, pumpkin patches, haunted houses and preparing for Halloween. This time of year seems to bring out the joy in people and not just because of the pumpkin spice lattes! I know I’m instantly happy the minute I can get my hoodies out a good pair of comfy jeans. There’s just something about this time of year. It’s also a popular month for weddings. My calendar is usually filled up pretty quickly when it comes to October/November and when I first met Lisa and Bill, they definitely wanted a fall wedding.

Lisa and Bill came to my home last year and we had the best talk about their big day. I don’t always have consults with my couples but when I do it’s always such a wonderful time. I got to know these two and we discussed what they they envisioned for their engagement and wedding photos. They both love the outdoors and being in nature. My first thought was Giant City Park because it’s absolutely beautiful at all times of the year. With work schedules and moving in together, time kind of got away from us but we were able to finally meet up a couple weeks ago to get their engagement photos taken.

It was the most perfect morning. The skies were overcast (which you all know I love) and that meant we could go anywhere we wanted for photos. No shadows! We walked around by the main lodge, which I hear the fried chicken there at the restaurant is amazing. Everyone always tells me about it but I have yet to try it. Lisa looked absolutely gorgeous in a purple dress. They liked that I suggested a dressier outfit and a casual outfit. I like it for many reasons but it’s mainly because it gives your pictures two different looks. All of these photos were taken within an hour and they look totally different. The light was changing a bit that morning, too, which also gave a slight different look.

I’m so glad that we were finally able to fit these pictures in because Lisa and bill were so amazing to work with. They are getting married TOMORROW and I cannot wait to see these two become husband and wife. Here’s a few favorites from my time with these love birds.
