Winter Maeystown Engagement Session
Looks at back at blogging!!!! It’s been so long since I blogged any sessions/weddings and I’m excited to get back to it. Life had some curveballs for me the last year and a half and I’m slowing getting back into the swing of all things personal, business, heath, etc. Lots of reasons why I wasn’t blogging but there’s really no good excuse. I really want to show off these beautiful sessions and tell the love stories of my clients. The new year approached and I made a list of goals for 2025 and one of the items at the top of my list was to get back to blogging. So here we are. Yay!
Introducing Kayla and Josh. First off, you’re going to notice just how dang cute these two are when you’re scrolling through my favorites. Seriously! It was my first time meeting these two in person and my first thought was how adorable they were. My second thought was it’s going to be insanely cold and she’s in tights! A few days before their session, I contacted Kayla and asked if they wanted to reschedule due to cold temperates (it was -17 degrees last Sunday) and she insured me that she and Josh were very excited and still wanted to do the session. Kayla was super excited that there was still snow! I knew with the cold temperatures that we’d need to keep one car running to keep it hot and I told them we would take as many breaks as we needed to so that they didn’t have pink noses, hands, etc.
When it comes to engagement sessions, I always tell my couples to come dressed in their nicest/dressier outfit first. Hair and makeup is fresh and it’s easier to get into more casual clothes since most of the time couples are changing in their car. We discussed locations and Kayla really liked the look and feel of Maeystown. I started them off in the area with the tall pine trees and it worked out perfectly with Kayla’s hunter green dress. Cold temperatures help couples get close and cozy but I think these two would be this close even on the hottest day in the middle of summer. The way Kayla and Josh look at each other gave me chills (no pun intended). They laughed together and felt so comfortable around each other. They were polite and super easy going. They trusted me with whatever poses and instructions I gave them. By the time we got to their second outfit they were literal pros! It didn’t take them long to get into their groove.
The second outfit was definitely warmer and we moved to a new location where the wind wasn’t hitting us so bad. I introduced some new promps that were silly and fun with dancing and lifts. When the session ended, Josh told me he had so much fun and the session didn’t go at all how he thought it would go. It made my day because that’s always my main goal for sessions… to have fun! If you’re not having fun then something is off and it’s my job to make sure it goes well.
These two first met when they went as friends to prom and now they are about get married! I love a good love story and I love getting to tell theirs. I absolutely LOVE these images so much and can’t wait to show you all.
Happy Friday!!!
P.S. They’re getting married at the Mainstreet Abbey where Ben and I got married! I cannot wait!

That’s the face of a very happy groom-to-be!

Pure laughter and joy… my favorite to capture!
