Matt has been in Afghanistan for the past year and what a long year it was. Courtenay contacted me a couple weeks before his return and asked if I could be there. I felt bad but I just couldn’t make the 3 hour drive to Springfield that day. Since I wasn’t able to make it, I wanted to do something special for them. I really got to thinking about the military and how awful it is that men and women are separated from their families for such long periods of time. They’re fighting for our country, yes, but the whole thing is just scary. I can’t even imagine how difficult it is to be away from your family for that long. To honor Matt’s service, I gave a free family session. It was such a gorgeous day when I met up with them. Honestly, it didn’t take that long to do the session. They totally rocked it out. Matt was so great with the boys and Courtenay. Seeing a dad that happy, just enjoying the moment with his family, it really touched me. I kept thinking “I wish all dads would be this way with their family.” I had such a great time taking their new family portraits. Matt, thank you for your service to our country. Your honor and dedication means the world to me and many others. Welcome home!
P.S. Information about my military special coming soon.
