If there’s one thing I learned about my session last week with Michael and Shellie, it’s that’s Michael LOVES to hunt. He lives and breathes it and that’s why they wanted to do their engagement pictures at the Hunt Club in Percy, IL. It’s aways nice to see a couple select a location that really suits them and shows their personalities. I have to admit, when Shellie told me where they wanted to do pictures at, I wasn’t too sure about it. I had never been to the Hunt Club and I do not hunt. I’m not a country girl at all so I really didn’t know what to expect. I think I was imagining just a bunch of trees and a small cabin. When I turned off the highway to head down the lane that lead to the Hunt Club, I was amazed at how beautiful everything was. The lane had trees down both sides with beautiful lakes near by. The actual Hunt Club building was beautiful and so well landscaped that it made for awesome pictures. And don’t get me started on the amazing willow trees!!!! AHHH I love willow trees and I knew we’d make our way to them at some point. I knew the minute I parked my car why they chose that location and I’m so happy they did. Not only was it a first time for me, it meant that their pictures were going to be unique from anything I had done before.
Shellie was dressed cute in coral and skinny jeans while Michael was more relaxed in jeans and a white button up shirt (he wished he could have worn his camo for the whole shoot LOL). We made our way around the property pretty quickly as they were totally rocking every idea I threw at them. Then Shellie reminded me that she had Michael bring a ton of deer antlers for an idea she she saw online. The shoot went wonderfully and I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better… well, except for it to be a bit cooler. It ended up being like 80 degrees that day. Who would have thought it would be 80 degrees in October!
Michael and Shellie will be getting married in April, which will be here before we know it. But in the meantime, enjoy looking through my favorites from their engagement session.
This ring shot looks like a bit “springy” but I love it. Michael and Shellie pointed it out to me. Great idea guys!
