Have you ever heard the statement that you write like you talk. Well, those of you who know me know that I talk a LOT and when I sit down and try to write a wedding blog post it’s very hard not to ramble. Weddings are filled with so many details and this wedding deserves the attention! Mark and Melissa had a beautiful wedding about 2 weeks ago (can’t believe I’m blogging this 2 weeks after but I went on vacation) and it was one of the most beautiful days of the summer we’ve had this year. Definitely not the type of weather we’re used to here in So. IL. The church doors were hung with M & M greenery letters with navy bows. The inside of the church only had a few decorations because lets face it, churches are beautiful on their own and don’t need a lot of decor. Melissa and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the nearby hall and dressed in matching white button up shirts with monograms. I’m beginning to fall in love with the monogram trend!!! As we zipped Melissa up into her gown and lead her outside to do her “first look” with Mark, she was so calm and cool. Literally, probably the most easy going bride I’ve had! She was so ready to see Mark and get her day started. Guests starting filling the church not too long after portraits. I can’t believe how much time I had for portraits with this wedding. Doing a “first look” definitely means you’ll have 60% more portraits than if you wait till after the ceremony.
Before the reception we made our way to the Pierre Menard Home for more portraits. I’ve taken a LOT of pictures there and for some reason there was a new lady working that day and she really didn’t like the fact that I was there bothering her tourists as I was taking pictures. I told her that nobody needs to move and I work around people touring the home. I mean come on, I realize it’s a historical home and I can’t just shut it down every time I want pictures there. We were only there for maybe 30 minutes but it was a beautiful 30 minutes and I’m so glad we decided to go.
The reception venue was perfect for me as a photographer. It had tons of windows letting in natural light and the walls and ceilings were white. I would love to go back to that venue for sure! Tables were covered in navy linens with white/navy striped runners and white lanterns. The backdrop for the head table was stunning with blue drapes, lights and white florals. It was absolutely stunning.
Mark and Melissa, thank you so much for allowing me to be apart of your big day. I had an amazing time and I’m so excited to show off my favorites!!!! Enjoy!
I loved Melissa’s Kate Spade earrings!
