Jason + Kaci | Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Engagement Session

December 7, 2017

Filed in: Engagements

Fall is my busiest season and it books up pretty quickly. Time completely got away from me and there were still a couple brides that I hadn’t contacted to see if they wanted to get their sessions in while the leaves were still pretty. Luckily, Kaci emailed me and said how badly she wanted fall engagement photos and so I looked at my schedule and found the perfect day… except that I completely forgot about the time change and that it would be dark by 5pm!!! I was so used to booking sessions around 5pm for fall and it didn’t even cross my mind that we would lose daylight. We had two options… 1.) that we would have to find another day or 2.) that they would have to come to me (since I had another session booked that say day). Jason and Kaci were gracious enough to make their way to me in Du Quoin and I’m so glad they did.

They had never been to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. I knew it would be a great spot for the kind of style Kaci was wanting but I didn’t want all the photos to be taken there. I like to have a couple spots in mind so that the portraits have different looks with each of the outfits. So I called the local B&B in town (Francie’s Inn) and asked if we could take portraits there on their property. You see, there was a huge wind storm the day before and most of the trees with leaves in the area left were gone, except for this beautiful tree at the B&B and a couple trees at the fairgrounds. Now Kaci wanted fall trees and colors in her pictures so I was bound and determined to find some LOL.

I’m so grateful for clients who trust me and when they trust me, they are more confident in front of my camera. Jason, thank you for taking a break in the middle of deer season to take pictures with your bride. I know it must have been hard to come out of the deer stand for pictures, but you did it with a smile on your face and never complained once. Kaci, you are so darn sweet and absolutely gorgeous. I loved your style (especially that floral dress) and you were a total rockstar for dealing with freezing temps during your session. It’s not easy to stand there and look cute while you’re shivering LOL. Don’t worry, I guarantee on your wedding day you won’t be shivering 😉

Enjoy a few of my favorites…

Traditional but I love this “piggyback” picture.
