Ladders & Lace Wedding – Perryville, MO
I can remember driving down the lane to Ladders and Lace just like it was yesterday. It was a bright and sunny morning, a tad bit cold and there were numerous family and friends running around making sure that all the decorations were in the right place and finishing setting up the area for the ceremony. Holly and her bridesmaids were in an old barn that Ladders and Lace turned into a bridal suite. As I was walking up to the barn all I could hear were laughs and music playing and that excited me. No nerves in that barn at all! It was all fun and girls just being girls. After taking some candid shots of the girls getting ready, I made my way over towards the reception area to take some detail shots. Damian was finishing up some things with his groomsmen and then it was time for him to get ready too. Before he got dressed into his tux he got a haircut! That’s right a haircut. It was definitely a first for me to capture a groom getting ready on his wedding day doing that. Holly did not want any of her bridesmaids to see what gown she purchased, so she did a reveal to them and it was so sweet. Keeping your dress a secret is tough so major props to Holly for doing that!
It was a pretty windy day, which made it a tad bit cold. And when I say ‘tad’ I mean REALLY cold. March in the midwest can be a gamble but the sun was out and it turned out to be such a pretty day. Everyone braved the elements and made it through portraits and then there was some downtime to warm up a bit before the ceremony started. Holly and Damian decided to stay traditional and not see each other before Holly walked down the aisle. Damian’s reaction was priceless and so special. When a bride walks down the aisle, whether or not she saw her groom before the ceremony or not, it’s a powerful moment. Holly’s best friend officiated the wedding and she did a phenomenal job. My favorite part of the ceremony was after Holly and Damian were announced husband and wife, confetti canons were shot off and surprised them as they recessed down the aisle. It was so cool!
The reception was also held there at Ladders and Lace. A rustic barn with tables decorated with florals and dusty pink decor. The cake and dessert table was filled with desserts made from family members, the dinner was prepared by Damian and his groomsmen and probably one of my favorite areas was in front of the head table. Mr. and Mrs. Foster were spelled out with florals and wood elements and it was so pretty with the lace backdrop from the table. Not sure if it’s just a memorable moment or my favorite moment of the night, but when it was time for Holly to toss the bouquet, she ended up tossing it and it landed on top of one of the blades of a ceiling fan! It was so funny and capturing the girls’ faces when that happened was priceless.
Once again, I’m so honored to be a part of this wedding day and I can’t wait for you to see my favorites. Check them out below!
