Lindsey | 2012 Senior

From the moment I woke up this morning I just knew it was going to be a good day. The sun was shining bright, it was almost 80 degrees and for a day in the middle of March... I'll take it, especially when that day just happens to be the day I'm taking Lindsey's senior pictures. Poor Lindsey scheduled, I think, 2 sessions and they both got rained out. Since she's a busy girl being a rock star on the basketball court and playing volleyball, we had to push back her session to spring. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and the reason why her previous 2 sessions were cancelled was so that we could take them today. I cannot put into words how beautiful it was today. If you live in the Southern Illinois area you know what I'm talking about.

The location for Lindsey's pictures was at her very own farm. I was pretty excited because it was going to mean new ideas that I haven't done before and because I knew she'd be pretty comfortable on her own property. Not that I wasn't expecting Lindsey to be nervous, especially around me. I've known her for quite some time now. But it's still nice that she was close to home. We even took pictures at her grandma's house down by her pond!

I usually take a break over the weekend after I do photo shoots, just so I can spend time with my family, or clean or work on some of my hobbies. But not today. I couldn't wait to get home so I could start editing these pictures. You'll know what I mean once you scroll down and take a look. She's simply stunning! From her prom dress down to her cowboy boots. She's a country girl for sure.

Lindsey, thank you so much for an amazing day. I had a blast hanging with you and your mom. I hope you enjoy your senior pictures just as much as I do.

Loran & Chris | Engaged

Loran is my step-sister and I knew it was just a matter of time before Chris would be asking the big question. Sure enough, in December on Loran's birthday, he asked her for her hand in marriage. Of course she said yes! (Obviously if you're reading this post LOL).

People always ask me what to wear during their engagement sessions and what locations would be best. Naturally Loran wondered the same thing and I told her I wanted her to think of places that she and Chris liked to go to, or places that meant a lot to them and their relationship. So she thought of one place... Little Grassy in Carbondale. They both work there and spend a LOT of time there, plus it's beautiful. Not only was the location beautiful, but we had gorgeous weather that day. I was so excited to go down by the lake because it was just unreal to have a nice 80 degree day down by the water in MARCH! Who would have thought!!

I'm so excited for my step sister and I can't wait till her big day. Until then...enjoy a few of my favorite shots for their session.

Shayla & Andrew | Wedding

As I was shooting this wedding last weekend I kept thinking that I'm not going to be able to write into words how special this day is. I'm not much of a writer. There were so many moments that left me speechless and if you know me, you know that that's pretty much impossible. One moment was when Shayla's father saw her in her dress for the first time. And another was when Shayla and Andrew stood on opposite sides of a door holding hands (so they couldn't see each other) and said a prayer before the ceremony. There were so many more special moments but then you would be reading for a while, and lets just face it, you really just want to see the photos. So I'll just get right to it.

Shayla and Andrew, you two are so special and I don't think I've laughed and cried so much as a wedding... EVER! The love you two have for each other is something you don't see every day and I'm thankful that I was able to take part in your special day. I hope you had a great time on your honeymoon. Enjoy my favorite shots from your big day!!!

Shayla had a broach bouquet....BEAUTIFUL! Some of the broaches were her grandmother's and she had a ship on there because they were going on a cruise for their honeymoon. Very special.

Here's when Shayla's dad saw her in her gown the first time. I teared up! Very sweet.

Shayla... you're beautiful!

Andrew loves the camera!

I love the "model face" guys!

I wish this was my idea, but it's not. One of the groomsmen's name is Jared so they wanted to do the "OMG, he went to Jared" picture. Too funny!

One of the moments that took my breathe away! Shayla and Andrew wanted to say a prayer before the ceremony but they didn't want to see each other. Very quite and special moment... priceless!

Love the vintage car!

And last but not least...my favorite shot of the day! I absolutely love this picture for so many reasons. The car is amazing. The light was perfect. And just look how in love they are!
